I saw this Wanderlust article this week, and it contains a lot of evidence of greenYgreyness, and why I named this site after it. All the photos have a mixture of old-fashioned and Yfashionable greeny(Y)grey, and some have some PinkyOrangePurple thrown in.
I’ve only been to the Lake District a few times, but agree that it is a special place and deserving of UNESCO heritage status.
I think it should continue east to the coast though, including the Yorkshire Dales and Cleveland Way Jurassic coast; especially Whitby, Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay.
The second reason they propose for UNESCO heritage status is artistic inspiration, focusing on the Romantic writers, poets and artists that are the predominant British historical inspirations for me.
